Southern Crushed Concrete’s Cement-Treated Base (CTB) is a mixture of crushed concrete combined with carefully measured amounts of cement that harden after compaction to form a durable paving material. The blend of materials in our cement treated base must cure adequately to allow the cement to hydrate and the mixture to harden.
CTB holds slab-like characteristics in strength and when properly engineered, can act as a load-carrying element by distributing weight over a wider area and reducing stress on the subgrade materials. It is virtually waterproof and resists rain, cyclical freezing and other seasonal weather damage. Overall, cement treated base is much stronger than granular bases.
Cement Treated Base is oftentimes used in Heavy Civil Construction applications such as highways, airports and wharfs. It is an economical and environmentally friendly pavement base option, as it utilizes local aggregates and on-site soils. CTB also allows for quick construction and therefore, lowers costs.
At Southern Crushed Concrete, our cement treated base is made only of uncontaminated materials of uniform quality, per the specifications of TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) and Harris County.
